"Start Tomorrow"

Jan 10, 2023

These are powerful words you can use to fool yourself.

When we promise ourselves we’ll “start tomorrow” it’s rarely because we’ve added it into tomorrow’s schedule. We’ve simply decided we won’t be starting today.

It could be anything - a presentation, budget, blog, book, project or course we said we’d start.

We give ourselves an excuse to put it off. We convince ourselves that tomorrow is a better option. Tomorrow we'll be more rested, calmer and better prepared.

But waiting only increases the likelihood that we'll never follow through because life always throws unexpected challenges in our way. Tomorrow there’ll be even more obstacles hindering our ability to start.

A simple and practical solution to the procrastination problem is to identify one small part of your task you can do today.

Force yourself to do it for five minutes and then give yourself permission to quit. There’s a decent chance you won’t want to stop after those five minutes are up.

When you finish, congratulate yourself. You’ve just completed the most difficult step - starting.

Tomorrow it'll be 10x easier to build on the momentum you created today.

Action beats procrastination.

Just start.
